The Dutch football club NEC Nijmegen was founded in 1900. It is the 41st oldest club in the country! It plays its home games at the Goffertstadion with a capacity of 12,500 spectators and, in addition to tasting the atmosphere of the domestic cup finals in 1973, 1983, 1994 and 2000, it reached the third round of the UEFA Cup in the 2008/2009 season, where it finished after a double-header with Hamburger SV. Nijmegen have topped the top flight twice - in 1975, 2015. Among the famous managers we can name Piet de Visser, Alex Pastoor or George Charlton. Notable players include names like Danish Lasse Schöne or Rob Wielaert.
More about NEC NijmegenThey are called Heraclieden and their club colours are black and white. These can be found both on the club crest and on the home jersey, which has black and white vertical stripes. They are at home in the Erve Asito stadium, which has a capacity of 12,080 seats. The Dutch side was founded in the town of Almeo in 1903, then still under its former original name of Heracles. Interestingly, the club takes its name from a figure in Greek mythology, Heracles, son of the god Zeus. In 1974, the name was changed to SC Heracles '74 and has had its current name since 1998.
