The Dutch football club NEC Nijmegen was founded in 1900. It is the 41st oldest club in the country! It plays its home games at the Goffertstadion with a capacity of 12,500 spectators and, in addition to tasting the atmosphere of the domestic cup finals in 1973, 1983, 1994 and 2000, it reached the third round of the UEFA Cup in the 2008/2009 season, where it finished after a double-header with Hamburger SV. Nijmegen have topped the top flight twice - in 1975, 2015. Among the famous managers we can name Piet de Visser, Alex Pastoor or George Charlton. Notable players include names like Danish Lasse Schöne or Rob Wielaert.
More about NEC NijmegenSometimes only the abbreviated Willem II is used to refer to them. Their nicknames are Tricolores or Superkruiken. The first nickname suggests that they have a trio of club colours, namely red, white and dark blue. These colours are found on the home jersey, where they are in the form of vertical stripes, as well as in the crest. The away jerseys are predominantly dark blue and combined with black. Alternatively, they also play outdoors in a red and white combination. Their sanctuary is the Koning Willem II Stadium, which has a capacity of 14,700 people. This Dutch football club was founded back in 1896, in the city of Tilburg.
