The current name has only been valid since 1974, but the predecessor of today's Feyenoord Rotterdam was founded in 1908 under the name Wilhelmina. One of the Netherlands' most famous clubs won the European Champions Cup in 1970 and has twice won the prestigious UEFA Cup (1974 and 2002). The 15-time winner of the Dutch top competition plays at the De Kuip stadium, which has a capacity of 51,137 spectators.
More about Feyenoord RotterdamThis Dutch football club has several nicknames. They are called the pearl of the south, the yellow army or the rats. Their club colours are yellow and black, which adorn both the club crest and the team jerseys. They play in combinations of these colors both home and away. The Rats nickname is easily understood due to the name of their stadium, which is called Rat Verlegh Stadium and has a capacity of 19,000 seats. The club was founded in 1912 in the city of Breda by the merger of AVENDO and NOAD, which gave rise to the current abbreviation NAC (NOAD ADVENDO Combinatie).
