The nicknames of the club are Iron Sparta or Reds. Their home jerseys are also red in combination with white shorts. Outdoors, they play in white with black shorts. The club colours are blue, yellow and red, which are all found in the emblem. Their stadium is Letná, also known by the sponsor name Generali Arena and has a capacity of 18,887 people.
Their biggest rival is of course Sešívani, i.e. SK Slavia Prague. These mutual matches are among the most prestigious in the Czech top competition. They are notoriously known as the Prague "S" Derby.
Sparta has always rotated players a lot, especially in the 90s when there were many top players in the Czech Republic. However, legends such as Pavel Nedved and Jan Koller also turned up in Sparta.
The club was founded in 1893 and is based in Bubenč, Prague. Sparta is the most successful Czech club, and so its history is very rich, just as the club's name has changed many times. It has borne its present form since the division of Czechoslovakia. Throughout its history, including its Czechoslovak history, Sparta has won a total of 36 first league titles, the most of any team. Of these, 12 titles have been won since the formation of the 1st Czech Football League in 1993. The club has also won the former Czechoslovak Cup 8 times and the current Czech Cup 20 times.
While especially in the 1990s Sparta was outright dominating its opponents, in recent years, on the contrary, there has been a certain decline in performance and a period of searching, especially during the tenure of coach Ščasný and later Italian Stramaccioni. Sparta's last title so far is from the 2013/14 season.
Of course, Sparta Prague also performed interestingly in Europe and represented Czech football well. In 1927, 1935 and 1964 it won the now defunct Central European Cup. It also played in the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Cup Winners' Cup. However, the best achievements of recent years can be considered to be the multiple participation in the prestigious UEFA Champions League. There is also, of course, the UEFA Europa League.
