The nicknames of this club are Stanley, Accy Stanley or simply Accy. Their main club colour is red, which is featured heavily in both their crest and on their home jerseys, where it is complemented by white detailing. They play their home games at their Crown Ground stadium with a capacity for 5,450 spectators. The English side was founded in 1968 in the town of Accrington in the metropolitan county of Lancashire. The club was formed from a fan initiative on the remains of a defunct former club that bore the same name.
The club can currently be seen playing in League One, which is the third highest level in the English football system. In its history, the club has played in the 4th round of the English Cup several times, in the 2009/10, 2016/17 and 2018/19 seasons. In the League Cup, it has played in the 2nd round several times, in the 2006/07, 2009/10, 2010/11 and 2013/14 seasons. At regional level they has four Lancashire Combination Cup triumphs, in the 1971/72, 1972/73, 1973/74 and 1976/77 seasons.
