According to their national colours they are called red-black, but they also have the nickname Eagles, after their emblem, which is a double-headed eagle. For Albanian fans, there is a nickname Tifozët Kuq e Zi. The Albanian national football team has been representing their country in international tournaments since 1946 and the team falls under the Albanian Football Association. It is a member of both FIFA and UEFA, and thus participates in the battles for the World Cup (FIFA), the European Championship (UEFA) and the new Nations League (UEFA). Albania won the Balkan Cup on international soil in 1946 and also won the Malta International in 2000.
Albania's national football team qualified for the European Championship for the first time in 2016. This historic moment has not been achieved yet considering the World Cup, where they have not played yet. For the year 2016, the Albanian national team played their home matches at the Qemal Stafa Stadium, which was replaced by Arena Kombëtare after its demolition.
