The Greek football club from the Peloponnese, Asteras Tripolis (literally "Star of Tripoli") was founded in 1931 and its club colours are blue and yellow. The capacity of the stadium named after the Greek national hero Theodoros Kolokotronis is 7,442 spectators. The club has also played the Europa League several times in the past, including the group stage in the autumn of 2014 and 2015 - in the latter case, it met Sparta Prague and also faced Tottenham and Schalke 04, for example.
Among his domestic successes, let's mention the 2007 title and the National Cup final six seasons later. Asteras has also played five seasons in the fourth league, but has played "only" thirteen seasons in the top Greek competition. The club works closely with Villarreal of Spain and Juventus of Italy. Legends such as Dimitris Kourbelis, former Greek international, and Savvas Tsabouris are among them, while the Argentine midfielder Pablo de Blasis can certainly be mentioned. Arkades, as the club is known amongst its fans, is currently playing in the Greek first league.
