Barnsley FC is a football team that was founded in 1887, but then still under the name Barnsley St. Peter's FC. Initially the club colour was blue, but fairly soon after in 1904 it was changed to red and white, which has lasted to the present day. They even reached the prestigious Premier League in the 1997/1998 season, but were immediately relegated and never returned to the English elite.
The most prestigious trophy Barnsley have been able to enjoy is the FA Cup. But this achievement is only familiar to today's fans from stories, as it happened more than a century ago in the 1911/1912 season, and they were in the final once more in the 1909/1910 season. Of recent times, 2016 can be considered a successful year, when they won the Football League Trophy.
