Their nicknames are Le Rondinelle, La Leonessa (the lions) or I Biancazzurri (the white and blue ones). You can already tell that their emblem contains a lion and their club colours are white and blue. They play their matches at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti, which has a capacity of 16,743 seats.
The club was founded in the northern Italian city of Brescia in 1911 under the former name of Brescia Football Club. Its creation was due to the merger of two student clubs. They first reached the top competition in 1913, then called Prima Categoria.
It is certainly worth mentioning that Brescia is one of the first clubs to ever participate in the inaugural edition of Serie A, which was the 1929/30 season. However, it never celebrated a Serie A championship title even before that and its best finish was 7th place. Over the years, he moved between the two top leagues. In 1982 he also dropped down to the 3rd league competition for a time. In addition, in recent years he played for quite a long time in Serie B, the second highest league competition. He was promoted to Serie A again for the 2019/20 season, a return after nine years.
Among the club's greatest achievements, participation in the final of the Intertoto Cup in the 2001/02 edition can be mentioned. It is their only participation in European competitions so far. Otherwise, they have celebrated success in only local cup competitions, namely the Coppa dell'Amicizia, which they won in 1967, and also the Anglo-Italian Cup, where they have a win from the 1993/94 edition.
Successful club managers have included Pep Guardiola and Gheorghe Hagi of Romania. The club has also seen striker Luca Toni and/or playmaker Andrea Pirlo, who was born in Brescia.
