Italian football club AC Cesena was founded in 1940 and has spent most of its existence in the first or second football league. However, in 2018 the team ran into significant financial trouble and went bankrupt. Cesena FC is thus considered to be its successor.
They did not achieve any significant success in the first league, but they managed to finish second in the second league three times, the last time being in the 2009/2010 season. In the third league, AC Cesena have been champions three times, in the 1967/1968, 1997/1998 and 2008/2009 seasons. In addition to that, they managed to win the Coppa Italia Serie C trophy in the 2003/2004 edition.
