The Belgian football team Club Brugge KV (Club Brugge Koninklijke Voetbalvereniging) was founded in Bruges in 1891, then still as Brugsche Football Club. One of Belgium's most historically successful clubs, it currently plays its home games at the Jan Breydel Stadium with a capacity of over 29,000 spectators.
They have won 15 titles in the Belgian league so far and have finished second in 23 seasons. They have also been very successful in the Belgian Cup, which they have won in 11 seasons and the Super Cup a total of 15 times. This includes, of course, several lost finals. On the international stage, Club Brugge KV is the only Belgian team to have reached the final of the Champions Cup of European Countries (PMEZ), the predecessor of today's Champions League, where they lost to Liverpool in 1978.
