A Greek football team from Iraklio, Crete, founded in 1929, the club's colours are black and yellow and since 2004 it has played its home games at the 26,240-seat Pankritio Stadium. Previously, since 1946, Ergotelis played at the stadium of Nikos Kazantzakis, which could accommodate 1000 spectators (600 seats). Ergotelis is a big rival of another Cretan team, OFI. In 2006 it dominated the table of the second league, twice it managed to win the championship of the third one (1966 and 2017).
Notable players of the club's past include Croatia's Mario Budimir, Austria's Mario Hieblinger and Nigeria's Patrick Ogunsuto, who has made 162 starts and also tops the goalscoring table with 85. The team also works closely with Utrecht of the Netherlands and Lierse S.K. of Belgium, as well as the American Philadelphia Union in the MLS. The fans' nickname is Kritikí, literally "Cretans".
