The German football club, whose nicknames are Hansa, Hanseaten, Kogge, Hansa-Kogge or Ostseestädter, has blue, white and red as club colours. At home, it plays in a blue and white combination, with the away jerseys also adding red. Their sanctuary is the Ostseestadion, with a capacity of an equal 29,000 seats. The club was founded in 1965 and is based in the city of Rostock in northeastern Germany. The predecessor of this club was SC Empor Rostock.
During its history in East German football, the club won the 1990/91 season in the now defunct DDR-Oberliga. This was the highest competition in the former GDR. In the same season it also won the now defunct FDGB Cup, this time a cup knockout competition in the former GDR. If we look at the modern history of this club, it has been playing in the 3rd German Football League since the 2012/13 season.
