FC Lokomotiv Moscow was founded in 1922, when it was still Kazanka Moscow. Two years later the name was changed to KOR Moscow, renaming back in 1931. And the current name has been around since 1936. The owner of the team is the state-owned railway company Rossijskiye železnye dorogi. Home games are played at the RZD Arena stadium with a capacity of just over 27 thousand spectators.
Lokomotiv is one of the most successful Russian football teams, having won the championship title three times so far in the 2002, 2004 and 2017/2018 seasons. Furthermore, they have already dominated the Russian or formerly Soviet Cup ten times in 1936, 1957, 1996, 1996-97, 1999/2000, 2000/2001, 2006/2007, 2014/2015, 2016/2017 and 2018/2019. They have won the Russian Super Cup a total of three times in 2003, 2005 and 2019.
