The nicknames of this Turkish club are Sarı Kanaryalar, Sarı Lacivertliler or Fener. Their club colours are blue and yellow, and they play their home games in yellow and blue vertically striped jerseys with white shorts. Outdoors, they play mostly in yellow. Their shrine is known as the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, which holds an impressive 50,509 spectators. The club was founded back in 1907 in Istanbul by former football enthusiasts. However, over the following years, it began to focus on other sports such as athletics, basketball, volleyball and others.
The club is one of the most prominent in Turkey and has had a string of successes in the top domestic competition. It has won the Süper Lig a total of 19 times, the first time in 1959, with the most recent victories coming in the 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2017/18 seasons.
