Galatasaray SK (Galatasaray Spor Kulübü) is an Istanbul club active in a variety of sports, with football probably being the most famous. It is one of the traditional participants of the Turkish top league and perhaps not surprisingly, its biggest rivals are other clubs from Istanbul, namely Fenerbahçe SK and Beşiktaş JK.
They play their home games at the stadium officially named Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi - Türk Telekom Stadyumu, which is also named after the club's founder, Ali Sami Yen in 1905. This stadium can offer a sporting spectacle to more than 52,000 spectators. And these fans are mostly satisfied, as Galatasaray is one of Turkey's leading clubs.
The team has so far won 22 first league titles, 18 times won the Turkish Cup and 16 times this team has dominated the Super Cup. And many other Turkish awards. Galatasaray distinguishes itself from its main rivals by being the only Turkish club to win a major European trophy. This happened in the 1999/2000 season when they won the UEFA Cup final against Arsenal and then even followed that up with a UEFA Super Cup triumph over Real Madrid.
