Nicknamed Şahinler (Falcons), they take to the field at home games in red and black vertically striped jerseys, their shorts are solid black. Outdoors, they then play in black with grey elements on the jersey and sleeve hems. The alternative colour is white. The Gaziantep Arena, which holds 35,219 spectators, is home to this Turkish club. The club was founded in 1969 and operates in the city of Gaziantep, which is not far from Syria.
The club played in Turkey's top competition, the Süper Lig, from 1979 to 1983 and then from 1990 to 2017. Their best finish was in the 1999/00 and 2000/01 seasons, when they finished in third position. The club garners fan support mainly from the town where it operates, but also from the surrounding area. There is a group of radical fans called Gençlik 27 (Youth 27), with the numeral 27 referring to the number of the local Turkish province. The group was formed in 1996 and is always behind the passionate atmosphere in the stadium during home games.
