They are called The Gills and their club colours are blue and white. They can be found both in the club crest and on the home jerseys. These are predominantly blue with white detailing on the sides and shoulders. Outside, the blue is replaced by red. The club's home stadium is Priestfield Stadium with a capacity of 11,582 spectators. The English club was founded in 1893 and is based in the town of Gillingham in the metropolitan county of Kent.
The club plays in League One, which is the 3rd highest professional football competition in England. In its history, the club reached the quarter-finals of the English Cup in 1999/00 and the 4th round of the League Cup in the 1963/64 and 1996/97 seasons. Outside of major football competitions, the club has otherwise also made a name for itself in several regional cups, including winning the Kent League Cup knockout competition in 1945/46 and the Southern League Cup the year after.
