Göztepe S.K., commonly known as Göztepe, is a Turkish football club based in İzmir. Founded on June 14, 1925, the team has a rich history and a passionate fan base. They traditionally play their home games at the Gürsel Aksel Stadium, which holds around 20,000 spectators.
Göztepe's colors are red and yellow, and they are known for their spirited fans, who are among the most dedicated in Turkey. Historically, the club has experienced success in both domestic and international competitions, although they have also faced some challenges and relegations throughout the years.
The club has won the Turkish Cup twice and finished runners-up in the Süper Lig on two occasions. Göztepe was also the first Turkish team to play in the semi-finals of a European competition, achieving this milestone in the 1968–69 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. However, in recent times, the team has mostly competed in the lower divisions of Turkish football, striving to regain their former glory and establish themselves as a mainstay in the top flight.
As with many football teams, Göztepe has gone through periods of rebuilding, with a focus on developing young talents and creating a competitive squad. Their fanbase, known as Göz Göz, continues to be the backbone of the team, providing unwavering support regardless of the club's standing.
