The club is nicknamed Livi or The Lions. The team's home ground is Almondvale Stadium, where they have been based since 1995. For sponsorship reasons, the stadium is also known as the Tony Macaroni Arena, but of course fans continue to call it the same. They still have a nickname for it, "The Vale". The typical club colours are amber and black. The top of the football jersey is usually in amber, as well as the football socks, which have black detailing. The shorts are also black.
The club was founded in 1943, so it is one of the younger league clubs. Its original name was Feranti Thistle. It came into the Scottish Football League under the new name of Meadowbank Thistle in 1974. At that time, it played its matches at Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh. It wasn't until 1995 that it moved to Livingston and was also named after its new home town. He has been playing at the stadium ever since:
After the move came new successes as well. It's as if the new city has poured new blood into the club's veins. In 2001, it reached the top competition, then of course still known as the Scottish Premier League, now known as the Scottish Premiership. Here, too, in his first season, he finished third in the UEFA Cup qualifiers, just behind the league's two most historically successful clubs, Celtic and Rangers. It also won the Scottish League Cup in 2004, beating Hibernian by a score of 2-0, which can of course be considered the club's greatest achievement to date.
Unfortunately, financial problems hit the club and in the 2005/06 season they were relegated again. Here, unfortunately, an even worse financial crisis came for the club and in 2009 it faced insolvency. As a result, it was relegated to the third division. However, it was able to recover from its bad situation and in the 2017/18 season it once again broke into the elite of the Scottish Premiership.
