Mexican national football team is historically the most successful national team in the CONCACAF region and thus in the Americas and the Caribbean. They are a regular participant in the World Cup, where their high point is the quarterfinals of 1970 and 1986.
A very lucky year for Mexico was 1999, when they won the Confederations Cup, which was played in their home country. They also have one bronze from 1995 at the same event. Their most notable triumphs have been in their regional CONCACAF Gold Cup, where they have eleven wins plus several second and third places.
