New England Revolution soccer team from Foxborough, just outside Boston, has been playing the unpopular ball sport since 1994. And since 1996, it's been one of the ten founding teams of Major League Soccer. Their Gillette Stadium has a capacity of about 20,000 fans for soccer, but this can be increased significantly if needed, as it otherwise holds upwards of 65,000 spectators for American football games.
So far, the New England Revolution have not been able to enjoy much sporting success. In 2007 they won the U.S. Open Cup and the following season they triumphed in the now defunct North American SuperLiga, where MLS and Mexican Liga MX teams competed.
