The American football team New York City FC is one of the younger ones, having been founded in 2013. They first played in Major League Soccer in 2015, joining the top North American competition as the 20th team. For their home games, they use the famous Yankee Stadium, where one of the most famous teams, the New York Yankees, plays baseball.
Although New York has a short history in MLS, they are one of the league's leading and richest teams. It was founded by a powerful financial group that also owns the famous Manchester City FC. Some of the world's top football stars such as Andrea Pirlo, David Villa and Frank Lampard have donned their colours.
