This traditional English club is called The Magpies. They are known to fans as the Geordies or the Toon Army. On their home jersey you will find black and white vertical stripes. They play their home games at St. James' Park stadium, which has a capacity of 52,354 people. The stadium is known for its excellent atmosphere created by the home fans.
The local derby is called the Tyne-Wear derby and is played against rivals Sunderland. Next up is the Tyne-Tees derby where Newcastle United take on Middlesbrough.
The club was founded in 1892, in a city that bears the full name Newcastle upon Tyne, usually shortened to just Newcastle. The city is located in the county of Tyne and Wear in the north-east of England. This is also where the name for the above derby between the main rivals comes from.
In total, the club has won four top-flight league titles. All of them, however, are essentially ancient history. A trio of titles were won between 1904 and 1909, which was also the club's most successful period. The last title was in the 1926/27 season.
In addition, it won the FA Cup 6 times, where the achievements again go back to the 1950s. At the European level, it is worth mentioning the Intertoto Cup, which is one of the achievements of modern history. In fact, the club won it in 2006.
