The Novara Calcio football club was founded by a group of students in 1908 as the Football Association Studenti Novara. They play their home games at the Stadio Silvio Piola, named after one of the team's legends, which can hold over 17,000 fans. They have experience in the first league, having played Serie A for the last time so far in the 2011/2012 season.
Their best result among the Italian elite is eighth place from the 1951/1952 season. Currently, Novara Calcio are in the lower Italian leagues. They are still waiting for more success in the form of some important trophies.
