Parma Calcio 1913

Their nicknames are I Crociati (the Crusaders), I Gialloblu (the Yellow and Blue), I Ducali or Gli Emiliani. The club colours are both yellow and blue, but they play on foreign soil. The nickname Crusaders is more appropriate for home games, with the white jerseys bearing a black cross on their chests. This motif is also found in the emblem along with yellow and blue. Their sanctuary is the Stadio Ennio Tardini, which has a capacity of 27,906 but is often used with only 22,352 seats. It is a rather old stadium dating back to 1922.

The club plays two major derbies. The first is the Derby dell'Enza, where it meets local club Reggiana. The name is derived from the Enza River, which forms the border of the provinces where both clubs are based. The next is then Derby d'Emilia, which is played with the club Bologna.

Club foundation and key milestones

The club was founded in 1913 in the city of Parma, then it was under the name Parma Foot Ball Club. The name has changed many times and the current one dates back only to 2016. The new name came with the club's bankruptcy in 2015 and a new entity had to be created.

For most of the seasons of the last two decades the club was in Serie A, this is not true only for the 2008/09 season when it was in the second highest competition, and of course the period after the aforementioned bankruptcy when it had to start in Serie D. It has gradually worked its way back up and has been playing Serie A again since the 2018/19 season. In the last two decades in Serie A, it has alternated between the first and second half of the table in each season, but has not yet won the title of the top competition.

Most of its successes have come from cups

Still, they has had success in the league cups. Parma won the Italian Cup in the 1991/92, 1998/99 and 2001/02 editions. They also won the Italian Super Cup, in 1999. They also scored on European soil, winning the UEFA Cup, the current Europa League, twice, in the 1994/95 and 1998/99 seasons. Parma has the Cup Winners' Cup from the 1992/93 season and the UEFA Super Cup from 1993.
