They are nicknamed the Jags and because they are from Glasgow, Rangers and Celtic could be considered rivals. They are mostly favoured by fans who don't share the religiously motivated fandom of those two bigger clubs. Unfortunately, the club does not currently play in the top Scottish league, but struggles in the lower Scottish Championship. The club's home stadium is Firhill Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 14,538. The club colours are red, yellow and black. Fans of the club are fond of saying that it is "neither green" (Celtic), "nor blue" (Rangers).
The club was founded in 1876. The Firhill Stadium is in the Maryhill area, yet the club still has the Partick area in its name , but has not played there since 1908. Furthermore, Partick itself was not originally part of Glasgow until 1912, so it can be said that the club as such was not founded in Glasgow.
The club has been a member of the newly formed form of the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) since its inception in 2013. That year was also the last time it fought its way into the top flight, now known as the Scottish Premiership. Here it remained for five seasons, but nevertheless dropped down to a lower league in the 2017/18 season after losing the barrage, as mentioned in the introduction. However, the club still achieved some victories during its tenure. Wins:
It also reached the final of the first named cup once, in the 1929/30 season. In the Scottish League Cup he was then in the final 3 times, in the 1953/54, 1956/57 and finally in the 1958/59 seasons. He also reached the final of the Scottish Challenge Cup in the 2012/13 season.
The club's top scorer was Willie Sharp, who scored 229 goals in his career between 1939 and 1957. In the club's strongest period there was player Johnny Torbet, who scored a total of 116 goals between 1924 and 1933.
