The Bundesliga club from Leipzig, unlike many of its competitors, cannot boast a long history, but on the other hand, it has a very rich owner who has quickly managed to get the team to the top German league, where it is definitely not in the numbers. RB Leipzig was only founded in 2009 by Red Bull, the world's biggest energy drink manufacturer, which is known for its sponsorship activities in various sports.
The first year they played the fifth highest competition, but the promotion went up really fast. Already in the 2016/2017 season they were measuring up to the best and immediately got the second place overall. The next year they were sixth and the following season third, which means they have established themselves among the German and European football elite. This is of course matched by the attendance at their home stadium, the Red Bull Arena, which stands at around 40,000 spectators per game, when in the early years of their existence it was only units of thousands of fans.
Their second place from their debut in the Bundesliga also brought them participation in the Champions League. RB Leipzig thus became the very first team from the former GDR to achieve such a footballing success. Not surprisingly, the management has big plans for the future and one of the visible parts is the need to increase the capacity of the stadium, which should reach about 55,000 seats.
