Nicknamed the Eagles, their jerseys honour the Serbian national colours, which include red, white and blue. Home national team matches are played at the shrine of Rajko Mitić Stadium. The national team falls under the Serbian Football Association and represents the country at international events such as the World Cup and European Championships. The current Serbian national football team is the successor of the Yugoslav national football team, as well as the national football teams of Serbia and Montenegro.
The Serbs have made eleven appearances at the World Cup so far, the first being in 1930. They also achieved their biggest success to date, which was 4th place, the very first time. This was repeated in 1962. In their modern history as the Serbian national football team, they played the World Cup in 2010 and 2018, failing to advance out of the group both times. They have a total of five appearances at the European Championships, with their best finish being a double 2nd place from 1960 and 1968. They have not yet qualified for the European Championships in modern history, not including the successes of Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro.
