The German football club uses blue and white as its team colours. These colours are also used for the club crest and, of course, the home jerseys, which are dominated by the blue and white diagonal stripes. Outdoors, they play mostly in white jerseys. Their sanctuary is the multi-purpose stadium Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor, which has a capacity of 17,400 people. The club was founded in 1898 in Darmstadt in the Federal Republic of Hesse.
The club currently operates on a pitch within the 2. Bundesliga, the second highest level of professional football in Germany. They finished the 2019/20 season in 5th place in the 2. Liga table, which is quite high. It is the best position since the current continuous stay within the 2. Before that, they also appeared in the top Bundesliga for two years, in the 2015/15 and 2016/17 seasons, but finished in the 2nd half of the table and eventually relegated from 18th place.
