Torino FC

The club's name in Italian is Torino FC and its nicknames are Il Toro (the bull) or I Granata (the grenade). The club colours are red and white. They play their matches at the multi-purpose Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino with a capacity of 27,987 fans. The stadium was built in 1933. Although it is a vintage stadium, but of course it has also undergone renovations, most recently in 2006, it has the highest UEFA rating.

The club plays a derby with its rival from the same city, Juventus. It is referred to as the Derby della Mole, or also as the Derby di Torino or simply the Turin derby. It takes its name from the Mole Antonelliana, the city's main architectural symbol.

The club's origins, milestones and successes in the top flight

This club from the city of Turin was founded in 1906, at that time still as Foot-Ball Club Torino. It was only in 2005 that it acquired its current name, which is Torino Football Club.

From a historical perspective, it is a successful Italian club that has won a total of 7 league trophies in the top competitions. These, however, date from 1928 to 1976, when it won its last title to date. On eight occasions the club has finished in 2nd place, the last time being in the 1975/76 season. The first decade of the new millennium is then mainly about the frequent alternation between Serie A and B. Only since the 2012/13 season have they managed to stay in Serie A for a longer period of time, and even move more towards the top half of the table.

Grande Torino and its cup wins

In the days of its greatest glory, the club was known as Grande Torino and among other things also triumphed in the domestic League Cup. It has won the Italian Cup a total of 5 times with four of those victories coming between 1936 and 1971. The most recent victory is from 1993, which is also the club's most recent major achievement. In the same year it also reached the final of the Italian Super Cup. In the 1991/92 season, it then reached the final of the UEFA Cup, the current Europa League.
