Watford FC

The nickname of this English club is The Homets. Later, The Golden Boys, Yellow Army and The 'Orns also took over. Their club colours are yellow and black. Watford's main rivalry is with Luton Town.

The club plays its home games at Vicarage Road Stadium, which has a capacity of 23,700 spectators after the construction of a new stand. The stadium was built in 1922 and its east stand was closed for safety reasons in 2008. It was eventually demolished in 2013 and a new one with a seating capacity of 3,500 was built. It was named The Elton John Stand, after the club's long-time manager. Yes, it's the Elton John you're thinking of. He was also a loyal fan and is the club's lifetime honorary chairman.

The early days and the move

The founding of the club took place in 1881 in the town of the same name, Watford in Hertfordshire. At that time, however, they were called Watford Rovers FC. The club then bore its current name since 1898. Since its inception, the club has played at several venues including. Cassiobury Park, Vicarage Meadow and Market Street. In 1890 it moved to Cassio Road where it remained for 32 years. Since 1922 it has played at the aforementioned Vicarage Road stadium.

Milestones and club achievements

The club's most recent achievements date back to the 2018/19 season, when they reached the FA Cup final. Here, however, they succumbed to Manchester City by a high score of 0-6. He was in the FA Cup final back in 1983/84, but even then he didn't make it to the winning end.

As for the top flight, the club reached the top flight for the first time in the 1982/83 season. The first time it reached the modern form, the Premier League, was in the 1999/00 season and the last time it made it to the Premier League was in the 2015/16 season and it is still playing there today. However, in total, it has only spent 13 seasons in the top flight in its entire existence, which is not many. So it's not surprising that he hasn't had a winning campaign from here yet. His best finish here was second place in 1983.
