Their shrine is known as the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, which holds an impressive 50,509 spectators. The club was founded back in 1907 in Istanbul by former football enthusiasts. There are, of course, multiple Turkish teams in this large Turkish city with whom the club has local rivalries. The club was active in the top Turkish Süper Lig in 1959-64, 2007-08, 2009-11 and started its last season in 2012. Since then it has remained in the top league.
