In a highly anticipated football fixture on December 28, 2022, Atromitos FC hosted PAOK Soluň in a match that saw both teams fighting fiercely for supremacy. The game began with a rapid escalation as PAOK's sharpshooter, Nélson Oliveira, made his presence known early in the match by scoring a normal goal at the 23-minute mark. His prowess was undeniably confirmed shortly afterward, at the 26-minute mark, with the acknowledgment of the goal.

The first half ended with PAOK leading, but not without an energetic attempt from Atromitos to equalize. The resilience of Atromitos was tested further into the second half when Giannis Ikonomidis received a yellow card at the 50th minute, followed shortly by Samúel Kári Friðjónsson also being cautioned with a yellow card just six minutes later. Meanwhile, PAOK faced their own disciplinary challenges as Konstantinos Koulierakis was booked with a yellow card in the 54th minute.

Atromitos, displaying tactical flexibility, executed a series of substitutions in the 65th minute, bringing on G. Robail and I. Oikonomidis in hopes of altering the course of the game. A minute later, V. Kjartansson was also introduced to the field.

Their strategy seemed to pay off when A. Kuen pierced through PAOK's defense to level the score with a normal goal at the 71st minute. The goal was subsequently confirmed, revitalizing the home team and its supporters.

In response to the shifted momentum, PAOK reshuffled their lineup at the 76th minute, introducing fresh legs with Nélson Oliveira and Vieirinha making way for new substitutes. Tensions remained high as the referee continued to brandish yellow cards, with Brandon of PAOK and Dimitris Chatziisaias of Atromitos both receiving cautions in the 80th minute, followed by Andreas Gianniotis of Atromitos at the 81st minute.

In a final effort to secure a win, both teams made additional substitutions at the 85th minute, with Atromitos bringing on D. Rotariu and PAOK countering with S. Schwab and K. Narey.

The match concluded without any further changes to the scoreline, ending in a spirited 1-1 draw. Both Atromitos and PAOK showcased their tenacity and will surely reflect on this match as a missed opportunity to claim full points.
